I believe everyone deserves a chance to find peace and joy in their lives. My personal experience of being a plus-size Black woman has given me insight into how oppression and internalized oppression can shape our experiences and view of the world, and stop us from reaching our fullest potential. No matter the circumstance, you deserve a safe space to discuss the pressures, stigmas, trauma, shame, hurt, loss, and oppressive systems you have to navigate every day. I believe therapy serves as a space to explore our many intersectional identities and start the journey to becoming our best selves.

My approach...

If you need someone to vent or talk to, help you find solutions, explore a different perspective with, then you have found your girl. I strive to create a welcoming and safe space for you to express yourself fully and to show up as you are. It's also okay if you don't know who you are, that takes time, and we can figure that out. I am here to take that journey with you and support you in becoming a better version of yourself.

Life can be complex, full of twists and turns, and ups and downs. There are times when emotions can be confusing or just too much. People or life circumstances may be getting on your last nerve, and you just need support. You may be in a space where you want to work on being more loving to yourself. There is nothing wrong with needing to talk to someone and I am here to support you!

I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered, and Afrocentric approach to therapy which allows us to focus on the intersection of who we are and how we operate within an oppressive system. I combine this approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as it reminds us to be mindful, start and maintain goals, change patterns, and be kind to ourselves as we navigate life. Also, I draw from attachment theory, narrative therapy, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT).

My approach in sessions is more direct. I will tell you like it is but will do so in an empathetic and respectful way. I bring my full transparent self to the space and encourage and support you to do the same. I encourage humor, laughs, questions, curiosity, grace, and colloquial language.

I strive to promote the well-being of Black individuals' and dedicate my practice to helping young adults unlock their Black girl, Black boy, and Black person magic. When working with non-BIPOC communities, I strive to support your cultural experience and center your intersectional identities on your healing journey.
